Outdoor Activities

The surrounding area of Chateau Brinon beckons you to discover the beauty of the countryside we have here and the fun of being in the 'great outdoors'. Close by there is something for everyone and we will be only too pleased to provide you with more information during or prior to your visit. Outdoor activities include:

• Horse back riding only 1km for the Chateau.
• Golfing: 3 famous golf courses nearby
• Tennis courts in the village
• Bicycling in the country side
• Picnics by the Loire River
• Ballooning flights over the Loire River
• Karting: international circuit just 20 minutes away

Historical Attractions

As well as the many historical chateaux, churches and cathedrals in the region there is a wealth of other interesting places and venues worth a visit. Just a short distance from Chateau Brinon and well worth a trip is Clos Luce where Leonardo da Vinci lived while completing his last three years of inventions. Also:

• The Troglodites - still alive with people living in the side of hills by the Loire River
• Guedelon: a Medieval Chateau being built on 13^th century blue prints with only the technology used in that era.

Shopping

Yes, we can appreciate that when you are enjoying the tranquility of Chateau Brinon you might think that shopping opportunities are a million miles away! However, just a short drive through the 'Loire Valley' countryside will take you to some beautiful towns and villages where it will be hard to resist the temptations and delights of the many characterful markets, food stores and antique shops. Try:   

• Nançais : famous for its cookies, and the many different antique shops
• Sancerre : famous for its wine and cellars for wine testing.
• Bourges : famous for its “Spring festival” and its 16^th century town offering numerous artisan shops
